I just found the video of Jon Stewart's first monologue coming back after the 9/11 attacks and man, it still gets to me just as much as when I first watched it on the air a little over 4 years ago now. (Even though, as I write this, I have CNN on in the background and, with all the like, news going on these days, they've chosen to go with full, live coverage of the press conference of the Powerball winners in Moosejaw, Wisconsin or wherever they are.)

It's kind of funny, really. I used to despise the man for taking over the Daily Show from my beloved Craig Kilborn, but this speech, oddly enough, is where I think I truly became a fan of Stewart's.

1) I was born in Richard Nixon's hometown of Whittier, California.
2) I once auditioned in front of a mall crowd for one of those god-awful lip-synch shows that were all over TV in the 80's. My song? Nena's 99 Luftballons... the German version. I didn't, and still don't, speak German.
3) I can't stand practical jokes or television shows devoted to same. I get way too guilty to enjoy them.
4) I once punched a dentist in terror as he was looking at my teeth.
